Sean Hemeon

Los Angeles, CA - Abstract expressionism

I am a multidisciplinary artist—actor, writer, and painter—driven by a need to express fully and unearth deeper truths. My work is raw, confessional, and emotionally charged, transforming personal history into something universal. Whether on canvas, the page, or the stage, I create to make the unseen felt.

My Journey

I’ve lived many lives. I grew up a gay Mormon in Virginia, broke free, lost myself in addiction, worked as a federal informant, and somehow found my way back. Now, nearly two decades sober, I live and work as a successful actor in Los Angeles with my husband and our two Boston Terriers, Ludo and Gus Gus. Every piece of art I create is a reflection of that journey—of survival, transformation, and the search for something bigger than myself.

Why I Create

I create because I have to. Because it’s the only way I know how to process the world. Because when I paint, write, or act, I feel alive. If my work can make someone else feel something—seen, understood, less alone—then I’ve done what I came here to do.

My Creative Philosophy

At the heart of everything I do is emotional honesty. I don’t hold back—I pull from my own life, my own joys and wounds, and pour them into my work. But it’s never just about me. My goal is to create something that resonates, that makes others feel seen. Whether through gestural marks, visceral storytelling, or a lived-in performance, my work invites connection. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about energy, immediacy, and truth.

My Mediums of Expression

Painting: I paint what I feel, not what I see. My abstract work is immediate, physical, and deeply human—mixing acrylic, ink, oil, collage, and pastels to capture emotion in its rawest form. It’s movement, intensity, and intimacy all at once.

Writing: My upcoming memoir, The Good Little Drug Lord, is the most vulnerable thing I’ve ever created. It’s my story of addiction, identity, and transformation—a deeply personal account of chasing the high, only to discover I was really chasing something far greater. I write like I paint—with urgency and emotional depth.

Acting: Acting is another way I tap into truth. When I’m in a role, I give everything I have. I trust that whatever comes up in the moment is enough. Just like in my art, I don’t aim for perfection—I aim for presence, for something alive and real.
